Job Summary

Duties
- Prepare the operating room by ensuring all sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready and functioning properly.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and managing surgical supplies.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout surgery, adjusting care as needed.
- Administer medications, including anesthesia agents and pain management drugs, following strict aseptic techniques.
- Document all nursing interventions, patient responses, and procedural details accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Provide preoperative assessments and post-anesthesia care to ensure patient stability and comfort during recovery.
- Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, recovery processes, and post-op care instructions.
Experience
- Proven RN experience in an Operating Room setting with familiarity in OR procedures and sterile technique.
- Knowledge of advanced surgical practices including suturing, catheterization, IV infusion, ventilator management, and airway management.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics, or patients with developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for documentation and case management.
- Background in acute care environments such as hospitals with Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred.
- Additional experience in specialty areas such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (including botulinum toxin treatments), or infectious disease care is advantageous.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is highly desirable.
