Duties
- Provide direct patient care in medical-surgical and telemetry units, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
- Administer medications and injections accurately while monitoring for adverse reactions and managing pain effectively.
- Perform complex procedures such as IV insertions, catheterizations, suturing, and tube feedings with precision and aseptic technique.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient information thoroughly and accurately.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform treatment plans.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with diverse needs such as cardiac conditions, infectious diseases, trauma cases, or post-operative recovery.
- Educate patients and their families on health management strategies, medication regimens, discharge instructions, and preventive care practices.
Experience
- Proven experience in acute care settings such as hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), or Level I/II trauma centers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner for medical documentation and coding purposes.
- Strong background in critical care procedures like ventilator management, airway management, dialysis support, or trauma medicine.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or those with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance and quality standards.
- Skilled in performing diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection/processing or sonography when applicable.
- Ability to handle fast-paced triage environments in urgent care or emergency room settings while maintaining high standards of patient safety and care quality.
