Qualifications - Knowledge and Skills

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Effective communication skills
  • Individual must be a self-starter and teamwork oriented
  • Must be able to work alone as well as with others

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide telephone assistance for Topeka Public Schools computer and/or technology users, assisting with both software and hardware support
  • Prepare, update and distribute reports, documents, and other computer generated materials
  • Continually maintain and update knowledge of the operational requirements of the technology systems being supported
  • Communicate with other teams to resolve problems
  • Provide on-site user support and other related tasks as directed by supervisor

 

Physical abilities

  • Requires: ambulatory ability to move to various office and classroom-type locations and to bend, stoop, crawl, and reach to install cables and equipment; sufficient hand eye coordination and dexterity to make small component connections; sufficient visual acuity to read technical documents and instructions and align small components; sufficient auditory ability to carry on routine conversations; ability to lift, push, and pull objects of medium weight (less than 75 lbs.) on an occasional basis; and the ability to work in confined areas with noise variations, dust, and limited ventilation.

Work Conditions

  • Work is performed indoors where some safety considerations exist from physical labor, positioning in cramped areas, and handling of medium weight, yet, awkward materials.
  • Work is performed generally during regular office hours with occasional project work or requests for assistance on evenings and weekends.
