Senior Systems Programmer
Reports to: Chief Information Officer or Designated IT Manager
This position works with the District’s Information Technology Department collaborating with network specialists, application programmers, application analysts, systems operators, repair technicians, and end-user support specialists. Collectively, this team influences the experience of our students, families, faculty, staff, and administrators throughout the district. As such, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong collaboration skills and extensive knowledge of internal and external systems with a goal of continuous improvement and strategic integration.
The focus for this position will be on the integration and optimization of our information technology systems, including the platforms, operations, networks, applications, and security. The successful candidate will demonstrate the abilities to multitask, to collaborate, and to seek out creative solutions to complex problems.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the district’s logic, systems, applications, and stakeholders is essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience with user support
- Experience with a variety of applications, operating systems, and platforms
- Knowledge and experience administering relational databases (e.g. SQL, SQLServer)
- Strong communication skills appropriate for a variety of stakeholders
- Strong collaboration and project management skills (Change Management a Plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with computer related coursework (Master Degree is a Plus)
- At least two years of experience, ideally in a related role
- Working experience working in an educational setting (K-12 Experience is a Plus)
- Familiarity with HR, Finance, and Educational Applications (Implementation is a Plus)
- Familiarity with HTTP and Java Application Servers (e.g. Apache, Tomcat)
- Experience with Linux, Mac OS X, Windows 10, Windows Server, and other platforms
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the integration of district systems with collaborative stakeholders
- Collaborate actively with the networking team to integrate security and systems
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on continuous improvement initiatives
- Support the integration of business and student information databases
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Information Officer
Terms of Employment:
- This position is a 12-month classified position
- Performance will be evaluated in accordance with board policy
