You will be part of a growing, talented team responsible for providing oversight and execution of the crisis management framework for the enterprise. You will support critical team functions including, operational crisis management, training and exercise program development and delivery, and well-managed program governance that can meet the challenges of second and third line partners as well as regulators.

As a Senior Manager for Enterprise Crisis Management, you will lead our crisis teams and act as a strategic advisor across the enterprise to mature our incident response capabilities. We are seeking disciplined, highly adaptable professionals who excel in close-knit teams and can effectively influence senior leadership. General Responsibilities:

  • Command Incident Response & Escalation: Directly oversee and lead the execution of the enterprise crisis management process during live incidents and events, driving rapid response, effective mitigation, and exercising sound judgment to escalate critical issues to senior leadership seamlessly
  • Drive Strategic Collaboration: Cultivate high-impact relationships and facilitate seamless collaboration across the enterprise with internal partners and technology teams
  • Govern Program Compliance: Direct the development and maintenance of formal crisis processes and documentation, ensuring rigorous adherence to internal policies, standards, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices to withstand challenge, audit, and exam
  • Champion Efficiency & Automation: Raise the bar on operational efficiency by actively identifying and implementing innovative solutions to automate manual workflows, reduce risk, and streamline crisis management activities
  • Elevate Program Delivery: Hold a high bar for the holistic delivery of the crisis management lifecycle,overseeing comprehensive planning efforts, robust training and exercise development, and rigorous post-incident reviews (AARs) to drive continuous improvement
  • Own Mass Notification Strategy: Ensure the development, governance, and delivery of a comprehensive, long-term strategy for the enterprise mass notification system, ensuring optimal utilization and readiness.
  • Deliver Executive Transparency: Leverage data, analytics, and operational metrics to provide clear, actionable reporting to senior leadership and executives regarding program health, incident trends, and risk mitigation efforts
  • Serve as a Strategic Advisor: Act as the foremost Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise crisis management, applying a strong operational awareness of technology and third-party services to effectively partner with stakeholders, clarify needs, and implement resilient solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience leading a risk function in emergency or crisis management program or a combination of both
  • At least 7 years of experience in project, program, or process management
  • At least 7 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal and external business clients
  • At least 7 years of experience in executive-level consulting for strategy development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience in crisis management, business continuity, or a combination
  • 5 years of experience in financial services risk management.
  • Possess CBCP, CEM, or CRISC certification
  • Experience with ISO 22301 principles
  • Proven experience in fast-paced environments
  • Experience leading cross-functional discussions across all seniority levels
  • Proficiency in controls development, risk management, and reporting activities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on relationship-building
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in shifting priority environments

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. McLean, VA: $200,700 - $229,100 for Sr. Manager, Cyber Risk & Analysis

Richmond, VA: $182,500 - $208,300 for Sr. Manager, Cyber Risk & Analysis


Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
