Job Title: Student Applications Specialist                                      Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: IS Student Application Manager                                         Pay Grade: Technology Pay 4

Primary Purpose: The goal of the Information Systems Student Applications Specialist is to provide quality training and technical support for all student application users.  The Student Application Specialist will also explore new modules and forms, maintain security profiles and assist the student application team with various responsibilities.

            Special Knowledge Skills:

 

  1. Experience with using Student Information Systems maintenance and form building capabilities.
  2. Experience with creating and maintaining complex security profiles both automated and manual.
  3. Experience with electronic mail and microcomputer software such as spreadsheets, word processors, databases and Windows.
  4. Experience using high speed laser production printers and bursters.
  5. Ability to train end users in existing and new applications
  6. Ability to develop training resources
  7. Ability to work with other staff members as part of a team within a production-oriented information systems environment
  8. Ability to work unsupervised and set task priorities
  9. Ability to adapt quickly to a technically changing environment

 

Experience:

 

  1. Minimum 3 years’ experience utilizing data application systems including but not limited to student demographic data, attendance accounting, grade reporting, scheduling, special programs, PEIMS, discipline, health services.

               

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Receiving frequent incoming calls from a variety of people on a broad range of problems
  2. Assisting users in routine problem resolution by providing technical assistance and/or making appropriate referrals
  3. Training district employees to enable them to properly implement and manage student information systems applications.
  4. Create training videos and documentation including but not limited to the Student Information System for district users and for the Portal for parents
  5. Create and maintain online security profiles of Student Information Systems
  6. Perform password resets and troubleshoot end user login problems including utilizing the school ERP system
  1. Maintain operating procedures, production schedules, and timely repair of equipment
  2. Coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance of hardware and output processing equipment by vendor service representatives
  3. Identify and report existing or potential problems which may jeopardize the Information Systems function
  4. Create letters and forms and new associated fields in the Student Information System for new processes
  5. Update existing processes, forms, workflows and system triggers including but not limited to the online registration process
  6. Testing newly developed system changes in development system in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation in production system
  7. Operate printers in support of departmental and district production
  8. Archive online audit trails for Student Information Systems and perform searches as needed.
  1. Use knowledge of Student Information Systems and campus processes to trouble shoot a wide range of end user problems.
  2. Maintaining the student system street directory which includes updates due to district boundary changes.
  3. Monitoring data entry errors and coordinating efforts with campus staff to improve data quality
  4. Performing data entry as required
  5. Assisting the student applications staff as required with file management, mail outs, proofing and back to school packets, as well as other tasks as needed
  6. Answering the department telephone as the backup to the secretary
  7. Creating and maintaining the Information Systems calendar and telephone list
  8. Maintain Student Information Services Sharepoint
  9. Maintaining documentation related to job duties
  10. Maintaining a high degree of confidentiality

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrates an attitude of quality service with working with district personnel
  • Functions within the policies and administrative procedures of the ECISD
  • Accomplishes tasks in a timely manner
  • Accepts other responsibilities as assigned

Salary : $55,649 - $77,641
