Primary Responsibility:

 

The Technology Assistant provides technical support to district staff and students by assisting with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of technology equipment and software. This position supports the district's technology infrastructure and helps ensure reliable access to instructional and operational technology resources.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

 

Technical Support

  • Provide first-level technical support to staff and students for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Respond to technology support requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving computers, printers, mobile devices, interactive displays, and other instructional technologies.
  • Assist with setup, configuration, and deployment of district technology equipment.

Hardware and Software Management

  • Install, update, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and security updates.
  • Assist with inventory management of technology equipment and peripherals.
  • Prepare, distribute, collect, and track student and staff devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on district technology equipment.
  • Coordinate warranty repairs and vendor support as assigned.

Network and Systems Support

  • Assist in maintaining district network infrastructure, including wireless access points, switches, and related equipment.
  • Support user account management and access permissions.
  • Assist with data backups and technology security procedures.
  • Monitor technology systems and report issues to the Director of Technology.

Customer Service and Training

  • Provide courteous and effective customer service to district employees, students, and families.
  • Assist with technology training and support materials for staff.
  • Communicate technical information in a manner understandable to non-technical users.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, vendors, and community members.

Other Duties

  • Assist with technology projects, upgrades, and district initiatives.
  • Support technology needs during district events and meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of technology services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • One to three years of experience providing technology support preferred.
  • Experience in a K-12 educational environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, and mobile devices.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry technology equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel between district buildings as needed.

Working Conditions

  • School district office and school building environments.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for technology upgrades, maintenance, or special events.

Terms of Employment:  12 Month Calendar 

 

 

 

Salary : $20 - $25
