Job Title: AI Engineer Engagement Type: Contract (6 months) Work Model: Hybrid Location: Houston, TX
Role Summary We are seeking an AI Engineer to build, deploy, and support production-grade AI solutions that address real business needs. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on implementation and delivery, not research or experimentation.
The ideal candidate has hands-on project experience building agentic applications and conversational systems that integrate with large language models (LLMs), retrieval systems, and backend services in a production environment.
Expected Responsibilities Build AI-powered applications using modern LLM APIs and agentic frameworks Develop agentic workflows and multi-step reasoning solutions aligned to defined use cases Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using vector search and embeddings Integrate AI capabilities into existing backend services and systems Improve model accuracy, reliability, latency, and overall performance Implement guardrails to reduce hallucinations and improve output quality Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance AI features in production Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to deliver working AI solutions Support ongoing enhancements and operational stability of deployed AI features
Skills Ideal Candidate Will Have Strong software engineering experience delivering production systems Hands-on project experience building agentic applications or chatbots that integrate with LLMs Hands-on experience building agentic applications using Google Agent Development Kit (ADK) Proficiency in Python or a comparable backend programming language Experience working with APIs, microservices, and distributed systems Familiarity with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, or similar Skilled in prompt design, prompt evaluation, and understanding LLM behavior Ability to work independently and adapt in fast-paced environments
Preferred / Nice to Have Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain and Google ADK Exposure to agent-based or workflow-driven AI systems Experience with model fine-tuning or customization Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) Experience working with structured and unstructured data pipeline
