What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3D Character Modeler (New AAA Project) position at Infold Games?
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the high-fidelity facial modeling of main characters (protagonists, key NPCs), covering the entire pipeline including high-poly sculpting, topology optimization, UV unwrapping, and low-poly modeling.
- Create cinematic-level facial texture assets, including a full set of PBR textures such as Albedo, Normal, Roughness, and SSS Mask, achieving the highest quality standards for real-time rendering on consoles.
- Responsible for creating facial BlendShapes/Morph Targets. Collaborate with the rigging team to complete the FACS-standard expression library, ensuring natural and intersection-free facial deformation driven by motion capture.
- Work closely with the rigging and technical art teams to optimize model structures for motion capture and real-time rendering needs. Ensure muscle flow and topology edge loops meet the requirements for high-fidelity animation driving.
- Participate in establishing and maintaining project facial modeling specifications, topology standards, and asset delivery pipelines. Mentor character modelers within the team.
- Drive the iteration of facial assets to meet the project's quality goals.
- 6 years of 3D character modeling experience in the gaming or film/television industry, with at least 4 years of in-depth experience specifically in facial modeling.
- Relevant experience in AAA console/PC games or film/television projects of equivalent quality.
- Proficient in high-fidelity facial sculpting using ZBrush, with a deep understanding of human facial anatomy (bones, muscles, fat layers, and skin micro-details).
- Proficient in Maya/3ds Max, capable of independently completing facial low-poly topology optimization that meets animation driving requirements.
- Proficient in texture painting tools such as Substance Painter/Mari, with the ability to create complete PBR textures for realistic skin.
- Familiar with MetaHuman or equivalent level facial asset production standards, with experience in creating BlendShape/FACS expression libraries.
- Familiar with mainstream real-time rendering engines (UE5 preferred), and understand the technical requirements of next-generation rendering pipelines for facial assets.
- Excellent aesthetic sensibility, with the ability to accurately control the temperament and expressiveness of character faces between highly realistic and stylized art directions.
