- Title: RN- Cardiac/Tele - PCU (Stepdown)
- Shift Schedule: 12 X 3- Nights
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Location: Bridgeport, West Virginia
- Start: 06/29/2026 (Tentative)
Responsibilities
- 50 mile radius rule
- Beds- 36-Beds
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: MedSurg/Tele acuity 1:5, possibly 1:6 but that would be rare & would only occur if anticipating a discharge.
- PCU acuity 1:4
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Trauma Level:2
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Cardiac patients, CR bands, post cath, AMI, Post-OP lung surgeries after out of CCU, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, post PCI, will not pull sheaths, no art lines, etc.
- This unit is really higher acuity than most Telemetry units.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills- Occasional cardiac gtts with titration (ie Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, heparin, Ativan, Lasix, & Nitro up to 50 mcg) MUST be able to titrate gtts - more than likely will be a Stepdown RN vs. Tele
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry data using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic and Cerner to ensure timely interventions.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations, to inform individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments with precision, including IV infusions, medication administration, and injections, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations.
- Manage complex cardiac cases involving catheterization procedures, acute pain management, and post-procedure monitoring.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies for patients with chronic or acute cardiac conditions.
- Provide specialized care for patients requiring ventilator support, tube feeding, or ostomy care within an ICU or step-down unit environment.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection/processing and utilize ICD coding for accurate documentation.
Experience
- Proven critical care experience in settings such as ICU, CCU (Coronary Care Unit), or Level I Trauma Centers.
- Hands-on experience with cardiac catheterization procedures and post-procedure monitoring.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and patient tracking.
- Knowledge of advanced nursing practices including aseptic technique, airway management, and infection control protocols.
- Prior work in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or medical-surgical units is highly desirable.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
