RN – ICU Step Down | Travel or Local | Night Shift | Queens, NY
Looking for your next high impact nursing assignment? We are hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for an ICU Step Down unit in New York. This is a great opportunity for nurses who thrive in fast paced environments and enjoy caring for complex patients as they transition out of the ICU.
Assignment Details:
- Contract length: 19 weeks
- Start date: January 5, 2026
- Schedule: 3 night shifts per week (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 11.5 hours per shift
- Hours per week: 34.5
- Must be flexible to rotate weekends and holidays
- One hour meal break per shift
Pay Options:
- Travel: $2,800 weekly gross ($26/hour W2 plus $1,903 weekly per diem)
- Local: $71/hour W2
What You’ll Do:
- Care for patients stepping down from ICU who require close monitoring and advanced nursing care
- Manage equipment including cardiac monitors, tracheostomies, ventilators, feeding tubes, and catheters
- Perform frequent patient assessments and escalate changes in condition appropriately
- Respond to rapid response and cardiac arrest codes
- Maintain a 1:4 RN to patient ratio
- Care for a diverse adult patient population, from young adults to geriatrics
Required Experience:
- Two years of ICU experience or two years of Med/Surg Step Down experience
- Two years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
- Two years of conscious sedation experience
- Proven competency in age specific patient care
Education & Licensure:
- Associate Degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited program
- Active New York State RN license with primary source verification
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
