Certified Medical Coder - Remote
📍 Bronx, NY
⏱ 13 Weeks | 5×8 Days (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
🕒 40 hours/week
💰 Weekly Gross: ~$1,600
💼 W2 Hourly: $40/hr
🏢 Work Arrangement: 1–2 weeks onsite training, then remote once fully onboarded
About the Role
This position supports a hospital coding department in an acute care setting. After an initial onsite training period (1–2 weeks), the role transitions to fully remote work.
Responsibilities (Duties)
- Perform medical coding in an acute care setting
- Utilize strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, Encoder)
- Apply knowledge of coding guidelines, payor rules, and federal billing regulations
- Understand anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
- Research coding-related issues as needed
- Participate in coder training activities
- Use 3M/HDS coding applications
- Code Inpatient and Emergency Department (ED) charts accurately and efficiently
Requirements
✔ Certification: CCS or CPC (CCS strongly preferred)
✔ Experience: Minimum 3 years in medical coding
✔ Systems: EPIC and 3M experience required
✔ Strong background in Outpatient & ED coding
✔ Able to work independently with minimal training
✔ Knowledge of ICD-10 required
Education
- High School Diploma/GED
- AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT) and/or CCP, CCS
