Job Summary
We are seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Staff Field Applications Engineer to join a fast-paced and innovative engineering team focused on advanced power electronics solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with sales teams, design engineers, and manufacturing partners to provide optimized switching power supply solutions using cutting-edge GaN and Si technologies.
This role requires strong hands-on expertise in power supply design, customer-facing technical support, and deep understanding of switching power topologies and magnetics design.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide switching power supply design support using company products.
- Deliver expert-level technical guidance and troubleshooting support to customers globally.
- Analyze customer technical issues and recommend optimized solutions.
- Conduct detailed design reviews including:
- Schematics
- PCB layouts
- Magnetics design
- Performance validation results
- Recommend component selection for best-in-class power supply performance.
- Support sales teams during customer visits and technical discussions.
- Conduct technical training sessions, seminars, and product demonstrations.
- Assist with trade shows and promotional technical events.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to improve customer application success.
Required Qualifications
- BSEE / MSEE or foreign equivalent.
- BSEE with 7 years of experience OR MSEE with 4 years of experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Switching power supply design
- Power electronics
- Transformer and inductor design
- Deep understanding of power supply topologies including:
- Buck
- Boost
- Buck-Boost
- Flyback converters
- Ability to perform complex circuit calculations and worst-case analysis.
- Experience with:
- MATLAB
- Excel
- C
- Simulation tools such as SIMPLIS, LTspice, etc.
- Strong lab testing experience with high-frequency switching power supplies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience preparing:
- Technical reports
- Specifications
- Test plans
- Validation instructions
- Ability to travel up to 10% to customer locations.
Preferred / Nice to Have Skills
- Experience developing embedded firmware using C/C .
- Ability to provide firmware support and coding guidance for power supply applications.
- Familiarity with Power Integrations products is highly preferred.
- Strong customer-facing and presentation skills.

- Preference for candidates located near San Jose, CA or within driving distance.
- Out-of-state candidates are acceptable if willing to relocate upon confirmation.
