Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on IT Infrastructure Team Lead to oversee daily on-site IT operations, system maintenance, and infrastructure support across our San Jose facility. In this role, you will lead a team of technical support engineers while remaining directly involved in the design, deployment, and troubleshooting of server, network, and end-user computing environments.
The ideal candidate is a local, self-motivated technical leader who thrives in a fast-paced on-site operational environment, balancing hands-on technical execution with team mentorship and service level agreement (SLA) management.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, guide, and schedule a local team of IT infrastructure and desktop support technicians; manage ticket escalations, workload distribution, and performance SLAs.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee on-site physical and virtual server infrastructure (Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V), storage platforms (NAS/SAN), and local network systems (switches, routers, firewalls, Wi-Fi).
- On-Site Operations: Act as the primary technical point of contact for physical datacenter/IDF closet maintenance, hardware racking, cabling, hardware provisioning, and system upgrades.
- System Administration & Cloud Hybrid: Administer Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and system backup/disaster recovery processes.
- Incident & Escalation Management: Serve as Tier-3 escalation support for complex network, system, and hardware outage issues; drive rapid root-cause analysis and resolution.
- Vendor & Asset Management: Coordinate with third-party telecom, hardware, and service vendors; track hardware inventory, software licensing, and lifecycle refresh cycles.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Leadership Experience: 2 years of experience leading, supervising, or acting as a technical team lead for an IT support/infrastructure team.
- Systems & Networking Expertise: 5 years of hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments, VMware virtualization, core networking (Cisco/Meraki/Aruba), and firewall administration.
- Identity & Cloud Management: Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, group policies (GPO), and cloud directory services.
- Troubleshooting: Exceptional hardware, network, and OS diagnostic skills across enterprise environments.
- Communication & Presence: Strong interpersonal skills with a team-first mindset and the ability to interface effectively with site executives and business leads.
