ABOUT THE JOB

The Logistics Manager will oversee all domestic and international freight operations, including pricing, scheduling, and fulfillment flow, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery performance as well as oversee the processing of sales orders and process improvements related to both functions. This role manages carrier and distribution relationships, reviews & negotiates freight quotes and cost trends, and recommends and implements improvements to strengthen supply-chain efficiency and profitability. Using discretion and independent judgment, the manager evaluates logistics data, anticipates and mitigates risks, and develops process and communication improvements that enhance operational effectiveness, ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations, and support overall business objectives.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/THE DAY-TO-DAY

  • Oversee and direct the scheduling of all freight deliveries, establishing priorities and coordinating with trucks and freight brokers to ensure timely delivery of all purchase orders (PO).
  • Oversee and ensure efficiencies in processing sales orders
  • Partner with Supply Chain team to communicate risk, delays and changes to schedules so all key partners are informed and updated on PO’s status.
  • Manage the movement of freight, including coordinating with carriers, negotiating rates, and optimizing routes to minimize costs and delivery times.
  • Lead quarterly logistics performance review, identify any trends or areas of improvement in future quarters.
  • Monitor and reconcile freight invoices to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Stay updated on market trends and fluctuations in commodity prices to optimize cost-effectiveness in logistics operations.
  • Partner with distributors to coordinate freight shipments, resolve issues, and ensure smooth logistics operations throughout the distribution network.
  • Conduct regular audits of logistics processes, documentation, and systems to identify areas for improvement, ensure compliance with regulations, and enhance efficiency.
  • Analyze and reconcile actual freight spend against negotiated carrier rates on an annual or biannual basis.
  • Manage 3PL partners to ensure efficiencies in the supply chain process; receiving products, inventory management and reconciliation, processing orders, and shipping. Travel may be required once a quarter.
  • Evaluate, select, and onboard 3PL partners, manage ongoing performance, rate negotiations, and contract renewals.
  • Manage freight bids, benchmarking, and RFP activities to achieve cost-effective and strategic carrier alignment.
  • Oversee international freight strategy and forwarder relationships to ensure compliant, cost-effective, and efficient global shipments.
  • Manage new freight lanes during distributor transitions and prepare to manage a team

Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience Required:

  • 7 years of progressive Freight and warehousing experience
  • Preferred

    • Experience in the Alcohol/Beverage industry strongly preferred

    Skills/Traits:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus strong presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with members across the organization and external partners
    • Experience using ERP, preferably Business Central
    • Problem-solving skills, including problem analysis, planning, and organizing, decisiveness, decision-making, and judgment
    • Ability to self-initiate activities, work within timelines, and work in a team environment
    • Proficient in the use of computers required with a strong knowledge of Microsoft program
    • Strong analytical and root-cause analysis skills.
    • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing organizational needs
    • Exceptional leadership skills to plan strategically, lead change effectively, able to lead, coach, develop, and motivate a cohesive high-performing team

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Target salary: $120,000– $135,000 per year (final offer based on experience).
