Infinity Technology is seeking a motivated, detailed oriented, and customer-focused individual who would be responsible for providing Flight Manual Technical Writer activities in support of our client on-site at the Aviation Training Center, Operations Publications Division, Mobile, AL. ATC OPD provides services to create, update, and distribute technical documents to include, but not limited to, USCG Aviation Operational Manuals and Commandant Instructions (COMDTINST). The ideal candidate is a self-starter requiring little oversight and has experience working with the USCG or DoD in a flight operations or tech writer support capacity.
*This position is located onsite at USCG ATC in Mobile, AL*
Position responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Authoring content and performing general Technical Writer tasks to develop content in coordination with technical subject matter experts
- Coordinating and tracking technical document reviews, both individually and/or with the government client team
- Researching and determining the latest program content standards, to quickly reconfigure contents and document formatting as program standards continue to evolve
- Identifying areas for improvement and supporting improvement planning and implementation
- Understanding the support roles of all program support team members, to assist with backup duties as appropriate
- Providing Technical Data Support Services to update existing publications to include but not limited to: Technical Data Updates, Quality Control, Configuration Management, Document Control, Technical Data Issuance, Customer Service, and Publication Distribution Services
Requirements
- Must be able to attain DHS suitability clearance
- Prior USCG or military experience highly desired
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 5 years of experience in advanced Technical Writing, or related technical content development roles, in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with ArborText software
- Advanced understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite of tools such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to write in a clear and concise manner in order to convey information to a variety of audiences
- Advanced technical writing and presentation skills

- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
- Ability to deliver high quality documentation, paying close attention to detail
- Experience with desktop publication tools from Adobe and Microsoft
- Ability to understand and articulate technical requirements and translate these requirements into technical documentation
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and communicate progress against schedule
- Ability to peer review technical documents for grammar, content, and style of writing
- Capable of handling sensitive and complex issues with discretion and good judgment
- Ability to update technical data IAW with ATCINST 3710.2, Operational Publication Development Guide.
Required Clearance:
Ability to obtain government DHS suitability clearance (Tier 1) in order to access customer network.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
