Overview
The Plant Controller serves as a key member of the Executive Committee, directing all financial planning, and accounting, for our injection molding facility. This position balances high-level strategic leadership—including corporate treasury, risk management, and benefits negotiation—cost accounting. The ideal candidate will produce accurate financial statements and maintain strict internal controls.
Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership & Treasury
- Executive Committee: Serve as an active member to formulate company policies, develop long-range goals, and evaluate organizational growth.
- Treasury & Asset Custody: Act as the custodian of funds, securities, and capital assets, maintaining close relationships with financial institutions and shareholders.
- Economic Analysis: Appraise the organization’s financial position, evaluate liquidity, and analyze external economic conditions impacting the business.
- Risk & Compliance: Direct all tax reporting, audit coordination, corporate insurance activities, and ensure the preparation of government-mandated filings.
2. Accounting
- Standard Cost Management: Maintain and analyze standard cost files, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Rate Determination: Analyze cost data to establish manufacturing overhead and SG&A rates.
- Inventory Control: Coordinate physical inventory for raw materials and finished goods.
- Strategic Quoting: Participate in the product quoting process to ensure new program margins align with corporate profitability goals.
3. Systems, Benefits, & Administration
- ERP Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for ERP system coordination, upgrades, and data integrity.
- Benefits Administration: Plan, negotiate, and account for employee benefit programs, including health insurance, 401(k) plans.
- Internal Controls: Establish procedures to guarantee adequate accounting controls.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a heavy emphasis on manufacturing and cost accounting (plastics/injection molding highly preferred).
- Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation is strongly desired.
- Communication: Ability to analyze accounting and government regulations, write comprehensive financial policies and effetively present data to executive leadership.
