Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks to facilitate seamless billing processes
- Collect and review patient documentation, including medical histories and consent forms, ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Manage patient records by filing, updating, and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, practicing excellent phone etiquette to address inquiries or direct calls appropriately
- Assist with medical billing and collection efforts by processing payments and following up on outstanding balances
- Support clinical staff
- Utilize office software such as Microsoft Office suite for documentation and correspondence
- Perform office management duties including filing, data entry, appointment reminders, and managing office supplies
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and HIPAA privacy policies at all times
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment; clinic or dental office experience highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and multi-line phone systems
- Exceptional customer service skills with a professional phone etiquette attitude
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Prior experience in medical billing or medical administrative support is advantageous
- Capable of multitasking efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
