Job brief

We’re currently seeking an experienced Quality Engineer with composites manufacturing experience to join our team.

You will interact with production, engineering, and management to address quality issues, obtain 9001-2015 registration, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to supplying products that exceed customer expectations.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of products and adherence to ISO 9001-2015 procedures through inspections, implementation of the quality control system, supervising quality inspectors and identification of areas for improvement.

We are a small, dynamic company where self-starters with high levels of motivation are required to succeed. Taking ownership, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude will be key to your success. The ideal candidate must possess previous ISO 9001-2015 experience and have a background demonstrating hands-on manufacturing. Engineering and composites a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the plant's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Manage and mentor the quality assurance and quality control teams, including inspectors, technicians, and document control personnel.
  • Oversee all quality-related activities within manufacturing, including in-process inspections, final product verification, nonconformance management, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and quality records.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including customer audits, ISO audits, and supplier quality assessments.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics (e.g., scrap rates, first-pass yield, customer returns) and drive root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and support new product introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Ensure compliance with material specifications, drawing requirements, and process control parameters specific to composite materials and radar dome products.
  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) processes and oversee disposition of nonconforming materials or products.
  • Support regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance efforts within the quality scope.
  • Foster a proactive, self-directed quality culture throughout the facility.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of quality control management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience leading quality teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems, including document control, auditing, and management review processes.
  • Experience with quality tools such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5-Why, Pareto Analysis, Control Plans, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically within a composite manufacturing environment (e.g., fiberglass, carbon fiber, prepreg layup, resin infusion, curing processes).
  • Direct experience managing quality requirements for radome products or similar aerospace/defense components.
  • Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor.
  • Familiarity with NADCAP, AS9100, or defense/aerospace quality systems.
  • Working knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods relevant to composite materials.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficient in using quality management software (e.g., QMS platforms, ERP systems, Minitab, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • English / Spanish language skills.
