What you’ll do
- Process and manage medical billing, ensuring accurate submission of claims using appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding, including ICD-9 and ICD-10.
- Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR) systems to ensure compliance with regulations and accuracy in patient data.
- Handle medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and resolving any discrepancies with insurance providers.
- Utilize medical terminology to effectively communicate with healthcare providers and patients regarding billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation of services rendered for seamless billing processes.
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure compliance with coding standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in managing appointment scheduling and patient intake processes to enhance office efficiency.
- Greeting clients at the front desk and organizing office paperwork
Basic qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting, particularly in billing or administrative roles.
- Strong understanding of DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding principles.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and their functionalities.
Preferred qualifications
- At least a high school diploma or GED
- Previous experience in mental health billing or coding is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical collections processes and best practices.
- Proficiency in using various medical coding software tools.
- Pleasant personality, teamwork, bilingual preferred
