Overview

Duties
- Review medical documentation to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for procedures and diagnoses.
- Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance providers using electronic billing systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Verify patient insurance information and follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring all coding aligns with medical terminology and coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to update patient information, track billing status, and generate reports.
- Stay current with coding updates, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and optimize reimbursement.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology essential for precise coding.
