Purchasing Agent

Job Summary

We are looking for a Purchasing Agent to order supplies and equipment based on our company’s needs. Purchasing Agent responsibilities include researching new vendors, tracking deliveries and updating order records (e.g. dates, invoices and discounts). Ultimately, you will make cost-effective purchases and ensure we maintain a fully stocked inventory.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels and identify purchasing needs.
• Research potential vendors.
• Track orders and ensure timely delivery.
• Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts)
• Conduct market research to identify pricing trends.
• Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate better prices.
• Prepare cost analysis.
• Maintain updated records of invoices, vendors, and contracts.
• Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders.
• Work with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition.

Education and Experience

• Experience as a Purchasing Agent or a similar role.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

• Understanding of supply chain procedures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office and Excel.
• Ability to perform market research.
• Solid organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess exceptional communication skills.

Work Environment

Office and trips to the production and manufacturing plant. In the plant side of the company is a working fabrication and manufacturing shop with always transitioning parts and materials. In that area tools and equipment are used, and it is at times very loud, dusty, hot and safety is of high importance, you must always be on the lookout and pay attention to your surrounds as Safety starts with you.

Travel

No greater than 5% in a year.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
