We are seeking Mechanical Engineers to advance target fabrication capabilities for Inertia’s fusion program. This position involves developing precision assembly, bonding, and alignment processes for high-strength target components.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and develop tooling and fixtures for precision target fabrication and assembly.
- Collaborate with materials scientists and process engineers to improve target integrity and throughput.
- Perform mechanical testing and reliability assessments for bonding and assembly processes.
- Support development of automation systems for high-volume production of fusion targets.
- Interface with vendors, external partners, and internal teams to qualify materials and components.
Required:
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Experience with precision assembly, bonding, or micro-mechanical systems.
- Strong CAD and design-for-manufacturing skills.
- Hands-on experimental and prototyping experience.
- Experience with cryogenic or high-pressure systems.
- Background in fusion target manufacturing or aerospace hardware assembly.
- Knowledge of automation, robotics, or metrology systems.
