The State Theatre of Modesto is a vital cultural institution in downtown Modesto, encompassing three dynamic spaces: The State Theatre, The Jewel Theatre, and Intermission, a speakeasy-style lounge. These spaces are key revenue generators through rentals, events, and general services. The theatre showcases a diverse range of programming, including film screenings, live performances, and community events, promoting the performing arts and film culture. As a nonprofit organization, the theatre's success is rooted in strong community involvement, fundraising, and innovative programming.
Position Summary:
The Administrative Assistant/Box Office is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing ticket sales, and supporting administrative operations. This role involves handling front-line customer interactions, processing ticket orders, assisting with event coordination, and performing various office tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ticketing: Interfaces with ticketing system provider (currently Agile).
2. Box Office: Oversight of ticketing and box office staff.
3. Customer Service: Welcoming visitors and communicating with customers and coworkers. Answering phones and directing calls.
4. Training: providing training and updates to all staff in Box office duties.
5. Updates website: Adding/deleting information or graphics as directed.
6. Membership: Responsible for maintaining membership, running reports, and updating data as directed.
7. Film/Event Schedule: Check film times and events to verify that all times/dates correspond to the set schedule.
8. Accounting Support Service: Data entry of bills from vendors and invoices for customers along with managing communication with vendors and customers.
9. Processing Donations: Includes writing/sending thank you letters/cards.
10. Manages Mailing/Email List: Updates the State Theatre donor mailing list and email list as well as basic customer information.
11. Events/Rentals: Helping to plan and coordinate events, and helping to confirm and correspond with renters as directed.
12. Maintaining Confidentiality: Handling sensitive information with discretion and following security protocols.
13. Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
