Position Overview
The High School Pre-Apprenticeship Instructor serves as the main instructor for the high school trades training program, providing direct instruction, supervision, and mentorship to students in both classroom and hands-on training settings. This position is responsible for leading students in foundational skilled trades education while helping them develop practical ability, strong work habits, character, and workplace readiness.
The ideal candidate will have an evangelical spirit, some familiarity with construction, and the ability to work well with high school-age students. This person should be dependable, patient, safety-minded, and committed to mentoring young people in a mission-driven environment. While prior construction experience is important, the instructor will also receive on-the-job training and continuing development through the program.
In addition to leading the pre-apprenticeship program, this position will assist in the development of the Hozho Classical CTE program and perform other duties related to the Southwest Indian Foundation construction and housing program as assigned.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Serve as the primary instructor for the high school pre-apprenticeship program.
· Plan and lead daily classroom instruction, shop activities, and hands-on project work.
· Supervise students and maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
· Teach foundational skills related to residential construction and other trade areas introduced through the program.
· Model professionalism, work ethic, discipline, and personal responsibility for students.
· Track student progress, attendance, and skill development as required by the program.
· Assist in the development and expansion of the Hozho Classical CTE program.
