Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented VFD Field Service Technician to join our team serving the Southern California region. In this role, you will be the primary technical expert for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for a diverse range of industrial and commercial clients. This position requires a technician who is comfortable working solo in the field while maintaining seamless communication with our administrative staff and shop team.
Key Responsibilities
- Expert Troubleshooting: Identify complex failures in ABB, Danfoss, Yaskawa, Siemens, and other major VFD brands using technical schematics, multimeters, and diagnostic software.
- Electrical Systems: Safely and effectively work on and troubleshoot 460V, 230V, and 110V circuits.
- Field & Shop Repair: Perform hands-on repairs on VFD components both on-site at customer locations and within our local service center.
- Retrofitting & Installation: Lead the removal of legacy systems and the integration/commissioning of new Variable Frequency Drives.
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute routine PM schedules to extend equipment life and prevent costly downtime.
- Independent Field Work: Manage your daily service route individually, demonstrating high levels of self-motivation and reliability.
- Collaborative Communication: Coordinate closely with administrative staff for scheduling and documentation, and share technical insights with the broader VFD technician team.
Qualifications & Skills
- Technical Experience: Proven background in diagnosing and repairing VFD problems in a field service environment.
- Electrical Literacy: Mastery of electrical schematics and blueprints is required.
- Precision Tools: Expert command of multimeters and specialized electrical testing equipment.
- Attention to Detail: High standards for documenting service reports, safety protocols, and part ordering.
- Geography: Must be based in or willing to travel throughout Southern California (including LA, Orange County, and the Inland Empire).
- Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
