Role:

The Tool Repair Technician will be responsible for the evaluation and repair of small tools, small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. This position makes equipment recommendations and ensures that units are maintained. Technician will ensure units are repaired, tested for the quality of the repair, and cleaned prior to returning it to the project. Technicians must have a thorough knowledge of all tools and must effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining the tools and repairing them as necessary. This position may occasionally be tasked with assisting with other warehouse tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting problems with incoming tools and making necessary repairs to meet the production standards (power tools, hand tools and specialized equipment).
  • Disassembling and evaluating tools and equipment for repair to ensure parts are replaced only as needed, yet all necessary replacements are identified, this includes cleaning and lubricating components.
  • Perform operational testing and quality inspections to verify repairs have been successfully completed before returning equipment to service.
  • Keep accurate documentation of repairs, maintenance activities, parts used, labor performed, and equipment history.
  • Recommend equipment replacement when repairs are no longer practical or cost-effective.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Perform routine inspections of company tool inventory and identify damaged or missing equipment.
  • Support warehouse operations and other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction tool repair, equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to document repairs and maintain records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple repair priorities.
  • Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, parts diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to work alone from written procedures and industry standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to make decisions regarding repair versus replacement based on cost, safety, and equipment reliability.
  • Demonstrates dependability and work well independently.
  • Ability to twist, pull, turn, bend, squat and lift up to 50 lbs. at a time, while also performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
