What are the responsibilities and job description for the Innovation and Operations Project Lead position at Industrial Motor Service Inc?
Are you equal parts organized, creative, analytical, and curious?
Do you love building systems, improving processes, and turning chaos into clarity?
Do you thrive in environments where no two days look the same?
IMS is seeking an Innovation & Operations Project Lead — a role that blends project management, operational architecture, digital transformation, and creative problem-solving inside one of the most dynamic industrial service companies in the Southeast.
This is not a traditional project manager role. This is a chance to shape the internal future-state of a fast-growing company.
As the Innovation & Operations Project Lead, you will work directly with executive leadership to bring structure, clarity, and momentum to the company’s internal projects. You’ll turn high-level goals into detailed workflows, build documentation and SOPs, assist with digital transformation, and develop creative materials that support training, internal communication, and customer education.
You’ll touch projects across:
- Process redesign & workflow mapping
- Vendor & software transitions
- Facility expansion planning
- Shop admin process improvements
- Training & LMS
- Digital tools (Notion, OneDrive/SharePoint, SOPs)
- Internal communications and reporting
- Educational or customer-facing content development
This role is ideal for someone who loves variety, thrives in both creative and operational spaces, and enjoys solving problems with a mix of logic and imagination.
- Turn company priorities into clear project plans, tasks, and timelines
- Track progress across multiple internal initiatives
- Anticipate roadblocks and drive solutions
- Keep leadership informed with clean summaries and dashboards
- Map workflows for shop, admin, and sales processes
- Identify inefficiencies and propose improvements
- Build clear, visually appealing SOPs, guides, and documentation
- Support company-wide migration to better digital systems
- Assist with Notion, SharePoint, and data organization
- Create repeatable structures for training, tracking, and reporting
- Help develop training materials
- Build internal presentations, diagrams, visuals, and documents
- Assist in preparing educational or industry-facing content
- Track IT/software contracts and renewals
- Organize vendor information and performance metrics
- Support communication with tech and service providers
- A systems thinker with strong organizational skills
- Comfortable working directly with leadership
- Able to translate big ideas into actionable plans
- Strong communicator (written visual)
- Creative enough to design simple graphics, SOPs, or presentations
- Analytical enough to map workflows and optimize processes
- Adaptable, self-directed, and energized by complexity
- Curious about how things work and motivated to improve them
Bonus points if you have experience in: project management, operations, continuous improvement, business systems, industrial services, or creative production — but none are required. Attitude and ability matter more than industry background.
