Industrial Inspection & Analysis is looking for a full-time Mechanical Testing Technician to join our team at our lab location in St. Louis, MO.
Position Summary
The Mechanical Testing Technician performs laboratory testing on a wide variety of materials to support quality, safety, and performance requirements across multiple industries. This role follows established specifications and testing procedures, operates precision measuring and mechanical testing equipment, and ensures accurate documentation of results. The technician also maintains compliance with safety and quality standards while supporting efficient lab operations in a hands-on testing environment.

The technician also maintains compliance with safety and quality standards while supporting efficient lab operations in a hands-on testing environment.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing of numerous materials from a broad range of industries.
- Works from specifications (ASTM, ASME, etc.), drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions
- Utilizes precision measuring instruments including dial caliper, micrometer, and other specialized measurement equipment.
- Maintains equipment, quality and safety standards
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Have a basic understanding of concepts, practices, procedures and testing equipment in the materials lab
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize work, analyze and solve problems, and complete paperwork accurately.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
- Valid state driver’s license
- Knowledge and compliance of workplace health and safety standards
- 2 years of experience in laboratory services/materials testing
- Previous experience with Instron mechanical test systems
- Technical certifications or technical degree in related field
- Typical working hours are from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, although extended hours and weekend shifts may be required on occasion
- Regularly exposed to high-speed machinery and mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to humid conditions, climate/weather variations
- Occasionally exposed to acetone, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic and/or caustic chemicals
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to be extremely accurate when working with their hands and arms
- Must be able to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or push up to 60 lbs.
- Must meet vision requirements for the job, including near vision, color vision, and depth perception
