The CAD Drafter is an entry-level position responsible for producing electrical engineering designs, layouts, cost estimates, and construction drawings for low-voltage electrical systems. This role requires proficiency with AutoCAD and a solid understanding of utility design and layout principles.
Working under general supervision, the CAD Drafter collaborates closely with senior engineers and supervisors to ensure high-quality, accurate, and cost-effective designs. The position involves routine design tasks, problem-solving within established guidelines, and consistent application of acquired technical skills.
Primary Responsibilities
· Develop and prepare detailed electrical designs and layouts in accordance with company standards and project specifications.
· Design and document wiring harnesses for diesel engine and transmission systems.
· Determine size, type, quantity, and placement of electrical and electronic components.
· Perform utility calculations and prepare supporting documentation, including bills of materials and cost estimates.
· Evaluate and update existing engineering designs and specifications as required.
Secondary Responsibilities
· Follow internal company procedures for maintaining and forwarding records and documentation.
· Provide support to other departments as needed to ensure operational efficiency.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Required:
· High school diploma or GED.
· Completion of AutoCAD training or coursework.
· Preferred:
· Associate degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
· 1–2 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
· Basic knowledge of low-voltage electronics (e.g., ability to install a car radio).
