Reporting to the Director of Facilities, Administration, Security, and Safety, the Corporate Safety Manager will join the People & Culture (P&C) department. In this role you are responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs across all corporate operations and Department of Defense (DoD) contracts. This role ensures full compliance with all applicable OSHA standards, federal, state, and local regulations, and contractual safety requirements. The position serves as the organization’s subject matter expert on occupational health and safety, driving a culture of safety excellence and risk mitigation throughout all business units and project sites.

This is a contingent position expected to be located in one of the following INDUS locations

  • San Diego, CA
  • Pt. Hueneme, CA (Oxnard)
  • Hawthorne, NV


The pay range for the position will be provided at the time the position is no longer contingent.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain corporate-wide Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures in alignment with OSHA regulations, DoD contract requirements, EM 385-1-1, FAR clauses, and agency-specific safety mandates.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910, 1926, and other relevant regulations) across corporate offices, field operations, leased spaces, and government contract sites.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and quarterly Safety Committee meetings; identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, reporting, and documentation to ensure corrective and preventive measures are implemented effectively.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with OSHA, DoD safety representatives, and other regulatory or government entities.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain all required safety documentation, including OSHA 300/300A logs, training records, safety plans, and compliance reports.
  • Provide strategic guidance to executive leadership on safety performance, compliance risks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee subcontractor, contractor, and vendor safety compliance to ensure alignment with contractual obligations during operations, maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects.
  • Monitor changes in OSHA regulations and DoD safety requirements and update corporate policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Support proposal development by contributing safety plans and compliance strategies for new government contracts.
  • Partner with Facilities Management to ensure all corporate offices and facilities meet safety, health, environmental, and applicable building code requirements.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections covering fire protection systems, emergency exits, ergonomics, indoor air quality, hazardous materials storage, waste handling, spill prevention, and general workplace safety.
  • Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs that support safe building operations and business continuity.
  • Support emergency preparedness, evacuation planning, drills, disaster recovery planning, and coordination with local emergency services.
  • Review and provide input on facility modifications, construction, renovations, space planning, and workplace design to promote safety, efficiency, and ergonomic best practices.
  • Support and maintain Quality System ISO 90012015 registration and certification.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from an accredited university required (equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree).
  • At least five (5) years of progressive safety management experience, preferably within a federal or DoD contracting environment, including at least five years of cumulative experience within the last 10 years managing or implementing a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) program.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA General Industry and Construction standards and regulations, with strong familiarity with EM 385-1-1 and DoD safety requirements.
  • Must possess an OSHA 30 certification/card (or equivalent), provide proof of 24 hours of training completed within the last five years, and maintain 24 hours of ongoing training for the next three years or for the duration of the contract.
  • Proven experience managing safety programs across multiple sites and contracts.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS) and familiarity with ISO 45001 or other safety management systems.
  • Professional certifications preferred Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), etc.
  • Experience with safety and facilities management software, data analytics tools, and related reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with building systems, life safety systems, and facility compliance standards.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities.
  • Ability to conduct site inspections, including walking, climbing, and navigating active work environments.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Travel Required 25% travel required to various project sites.
