Description
Role Overview:
Analyze and understand customer requirements, organizational processes, and business functions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience administering and supporting IBM MQ environments across enterprise platforms, with strong expertise in installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and infrastructure design.
Required Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of IBM MQ 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, and above.
- Hands-on experience installing and configuring IBM MQ on:
- UNIX (AIX)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Windows environments
Key Responsibilities:
IBM MQ Administration & Support
- Administer, maintain, deploy, and integrate IBM MQ environments, including installation and configuration of IBM MQ versions 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, and higher.
- Define, configure, and modify MQ components such as:
- Queues
- Channels
- Listener ports
- Publish/Subscribe (Pub/Sub) configurations
- Queue managers
- Perform MQ backup and recovery operations.
- Monitor execution and performance of messaging applications and infrastructure.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain IBM MQ security hardening standards.
- Configure and manage:
- TLS 1.2 encryption
- Authority Records (AUTHREC)
- Authentication Records
- Secure channel configurations
Infrastructure & Architecture
- Participate in infrastructure planning, architecture reviews, and design activities related to MQ environments.
- Provide architecture and design support for MQ-based applications.
- Support MQ clustering implementations and administration.
Troubleshooting & Performance Management
- Perform performance tuning, issue analysis, root cause analysis (RCA), and problem resolution.
- Provide L2/L3 operational support and guidance to end users and application teams.
- Troubleshoot messaging, connectivity, and performance-related issues.
Upgrades & Maintenance
- Plan and execute IBM MQ fix pack installations, patches, and version upgrades.
- Perform administration tasks using MQSC commands and automation scripts.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and operational efficiency of MQ environments.
Development & Disaster Recovery Support
- Collaborate with developers to support application development, testing, and production deployments utilizing IBM MQ.
- Support MQ-hosted applications across Windows, Linux, and AIX platforms.
- Create, maintain, and enhance automation scripts for day-to-day operational activities.
- Participate in annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and update associated documentation, procedures, and recovery processes.
Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of hands-on experience administering and supporting enterprise messaging middleware environments.
- Extensive experience with IBM MQ 9.x and earlier versions.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
