The Field Engineering Manager serves as the technical owner and primary customer‑facing authority for assigned radar systems, including Indra PSR2D (Primary Surveillance Radar) and Indra MSSR (Secondary Surveillance Radar). This role leads field engineering execution and ensures successful installation, integration, commissioning, and acceptance of radar systems delivered to the FAA.
Working closely with the Program Manager, the Field Engineering Manager manages the field engineering team and acts as the main technical point of contact, ensuring compliance with contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Field Engineering and Technical Manager for assigned radar projects, owning technical implementation and system performance.
- Lead and manage field engineering activities, including installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and final acceptance.
- Act as the primary technical interface with the FAA, addressing technical issues and supporting acceptance activities.
- Ensure systems comply with contractual requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain familiarity with applicable FAA regulations, orders, advisories, and technical guidance, particularly related to the RSR program.
- Coordinate with program management, internal engineering teams, and external partners to support successful project execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in field engineering, systems engineering, or technical project leadership, preferably with radar or RF‑based systems.
- Experience leading or supervising technical teams in a field or customer‑facing environment.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and CAD drawings, including system schematics and installation layouts.
- Familiarity with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators) preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers and regulatory stakeholders such as the FAA.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
