Job Title: Associate Distribution Engineer

Contract Duration: 5 Months

Position Overview

We are seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer to support electrical overhead (OH), underground (UG), URD, Make-Ready, and Street Light design projects. In this role, you will develop work packages and perform field inspections under the direction of a technical lead using GIS and WMS platforms (GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, Maximo).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems operating from 4kV to 138kV.
• Perform site visits and field inspections using your personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed at standard IRS rates).
• Conduct engineering calculations, including structural analysis for pole loading, guying, conductor sags/tensions, and voltage drop/flicker.
• Prepare permitting documents for local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), joint-use approvals, and right-of-way (ROW) applications.
• Provide technical support during construction and complete post-construction quality reviews.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred) from an ABET-accredited program.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Flexibility: Comfortable working in both office and outdoor field environments.
• Mobility: Valid driver’s license and willingness to use a personal vehicle for site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with pole loading and distribution design tools (Spida-Calc, Pole Foreman, BOUD, SOCKET).
• Hands-on experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, GIS, or WMS tools (GE Smallworld, Maximo).
• Familiarity with NESC standards and utility design guidelines.
