GIS Specialist

 

Work as member of Joint USE/Fiber Make Ready Team to do in-field GIS data collection and make educated in-field design suggestions based on field data. Work environment will be 90% in-field. This job will be a great first step into electric distribution and will provide a valuable foundation for a career in the power delivery industry.
Team member will use a hasting stick (hotstick) to measure Joint Use attachment heights & utility-owned distribution lines/attachments. Field data will be collected via iPad using Leidos proprietary software to update utilities GIS and make design determinations. Team member drive/travel to project sites via rental vehicle. Team member may need to keep rental car overnight or for extended periods. Inability to keep a rental car stored, in a safe location, needs to be clearly communicated.

Travel throughout client regions in Virginia and North Carolina may require regular, weekly overnight travel. All candidates must understand the in-field time and regular overnight travel requirements needed to complete this role.

Experience using Esri''s ArcGIS suite or other GIS software required. In-field experience preferred. Experience in AutoCAD, AUD and/or other data collection software is a plus. 
As needed, storm response and mobilization is required when extreme weather events occur.
Leidos is using contractors to ramp up programs quickly. We ultimately plan to convert our temporary employees to permanent Leidos employees at the end of the contract term, dependent upon performance. It is important our suppliers match employee hourly offers to what Leidos would be paying hourly to meet expectations if/when converted.
