QC Lab Technician

Job Description: IVL - Indorama Ventures Oxides, LLC is currently looking to hire a Quality Control Lab Technician to work at our Pasadena, Texas site. In this role, you will be responsible for analytical support of the operations group. This support will employ basic wet and instrumental analytical techniques. The candidate for this position will be able to work independently and employ a problem-solving skillset that uses analytical results to correct deviations to specification. Responsibilities include perform and use basic wet chemical analytical techniques to test products, in-process sample, raw materials, and final products. Experience and knowledge of basic operation of analytical instruments (pH Meter, Auto-Titrator, GC, HPLC, Karl Fisher, FTIR, NIR, DMA, Viscometer, Colorimeter, etc.). Understanding of technical applications and laboratory processes which are routine to production support environments. Have strong math skills and a high level of adaptability to instrument control/software applications (LIMS, Oracle, CHEMstation, MS Office Suite, Etc.). Multi-task in fast paced work environment while maintaining a clean organized work area. Maintain accurate and organized records of test protocols and all forms related to quality control department. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory instruments. Conduct calibration and control testing and recognize failures in these processes. Follow established procedures and communicate results. Apply timely solutions when non-conformities exist. Work independently and responsibly on shift while working cooperatively along with other laboratory personnel. What will be expected from you? Trains lower level Lab Technicians on routine analyses. Helps maintain gas cylinder, chemical and supply inventory lists. Prepares solutions according to methods. Communicates clearly with production personnel on special request analyses. Disposes of samples and lab waste in a timely and safe manner. Fosters a positive, solution-oriented lab environment. Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments. Conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments. Recording and analyzing data. Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and testing sterility of the equipment. Ordering and maintaining stock and resources. Manage and optimize all process under your responsibility taking into consideration Quality, Legality and Food Safety (if applicable) and client needs on Oxiteno’s products and services. Guarantee all documentation under your responsibility updated and available for consulting. This position has the authority to stop the process while within your scope of work if any problems were detected that affect regulation, quality, food safety, or the requirements of Oxiteno's customers or products and services. Providing technical support. Presenting results to senior staff. What are we looking for in the ideal candidate? High School diploma or equivalent required. 1 to 2 years of lab experience.
