Job Summary:
The Floor Technician is responsible for ensuring floor surfaces requiring buffing, waxing and/or stripping are completed in a manner that reflect an acceptable degree of luster & are completed in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities & Instructions:
I. Floor Maintenance
- Follows the instruction of the Environmental Services Director in regards to project assignments & their order in which to address & complete
- Keeps records on areas assigned & addressed for future auditing purposes.
- Inspects floors in resident rooms & common areas on a regular basis to determine when buffing, stripping & waxing is necessary
- Makes sure appropriate warning/caution signs are properly positions prior to performing assigned tasks
- In corridors, hallways, etc., scrubs one side & then the other to allow for a continuous flow of traffic & will aid in preventing falls
- Moves furniture or other items from area to be buffed, stripped, waxed, etc.
- Makes sure areas to be buffed, waxed and/or stripped are clean & free of dirt before performing procedures
- Keeps away from so as not to bump or splash water from mop buckets, wringers, buffing machine, etc., into walls, electrical outlets, fixtures, etc.
- Prepares scrubbing solutions in accordance with instructions noted on the manufacturer’s label.
- Prepares the seal/wax solution in accordance with instructions noted on the manufacturer’s label
- Avoids using an excessive amount of cleaning/finishing solution or rinse water during mopping, finishing or rinsing procedures
- Cleans up work area, whether complete or incomplete, to prevent unsafe environment
- Stores all equipment in its designated area
- Follows all established safety regulations
II. Equipment & Supplies:
- Stores all equipment in proper assigned area when not in use & ensures storage area is in clean & orderly manner
- Notifies Supervisor of any equipment needing repair
- Notifies Supervisor of any supplies that need to be ordered
