What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cashier / Relief Cashier (Part Time) position at indianapolisairport-pilot?
It is the responsibility of the Cashier / Relief Cashier to perform core cashier functions and to provide relief to other Cashiers, as necessary in the Relief Cashier role. Cashiers / Relief Cashiers will provide exceptional customer service while accurately performing collection duties and other core functions for the Indianapolis Airport Parking Operation.
Essential Functions
- Perform opening and closing procedures accurately and recording all vital information on the appropriate forms.
- Collect parking lot fees utilizing designated cashiering system that accommodates our facility tickets.
- Accept payments in the form of cash, credit card, and occasionally providing change to customers when necessary.
- Assist the general public providing customer service explaining parking fees, collecting payments, and when necessary providing directions.
- Provide cashier relief for two (2) thirty-minute breaks for cashiers working on shift as necessary.
- Handle customer complaints in a responsive, respectful manner.
- Maintaining cleanliness of booth and immediate surrounding areas.
- Stock booths with supplies needed to perform essential functions.
- Assist on the 3rd floor of the terminal garage or at GTC to promote the pre-payment of parking at pay-on-foot machines, and promote parkIND programs as needed.
- Help to eliminate and relieve traffic congestion at pay plazas as needed.
- When necessary help to direct overflow parking in terminal garage to the economy lot.
- Support and assist parking Shift Supervisors.
- Provide parking customer service support when necessary.
- Recovery of jammed credit cards and stuck customer tickets as needed.
- Direct traffic when necessary.
- Report all unusual security situations to the Police Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school; or successful completion of a high school equivalency exam; or any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position.
- Prior cashier experience a plus.
- Ability to maintain good public relations.
- Effectively communicate and comprehend English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform all of the functions of this position as described and other duties as assigned as this position description may be changed at any time.
Required Licenses, Certificates, & Conditions
- Valid driver’s license required with a good driving record required.
- Ability to be bonded.
- Ability to perform all of the essential functions of the position outlined above without creating a direct threat to the safety of oneself or others required.

- Work Environment: This position is performed within in an outside setting the majority of the time. The employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level varies in the outside environment. The incumbent in this position is expected to work independently and as part of the team.
