The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) anticipates hiring two tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant rank on the IU Bloomington campus. All areas of scholarly interest will be considered. Applicant experience should reflect potential for or an established record of success in scholarship, funded research, and teaching. These are 10-month positions starting August 1, 2026.
The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW), founded in 1911, is a university-wide system school with CSWE-accredited MSW and BSW Programs since 1923 and 1975 respectively. The School is a founding member of the University’s health sciences Interprofessional Practice and Education Center, creating opportunities for students and faculty. The School’s annual enrollment totals approximately 1,800 students across programs (PhD, MSW, BSW) and campuses. With current leadership under Dean Kalea Benner, the School encompasses seven campuses plus an online MSW program and a Center for Social Health and Well-Being to advance our impact.
IU Bloomington Campus: IU Bloomington is the University’s flagship residential campus. Founded in 1820, IU Bloomington is located an hour south of Indianapolis and is credited as one of the country’s most beautiful college campuses. IU Bloomington is a member of the Association of American Universities and is one of two research-intensive campuses of Indiana University. Social Work and three other health science disciplines are co-located in a Regional Academic Health Center, aiming to support the preparation of students to provide interprofessional team-based care. The campus also partners with the Center for Rural Engagement and the Indiana Institute for Disability and Community.
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications include a doctoral level degree in social work or related field with a master’s degree in social work and two years of relevant post-master’s experience preferred. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, establish a funded research program resulting in sustained scholarship, and engage in service activities.
