This position is for a Research Technician to provide general laboratory support and assistance to aid the Principal Investigator in conducting sponsored research on the role of the vasculature in lung development.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Maintains laboratory (cleaning and storing glassware, maintaining stocks of sterilized glassware, plastic ware, and pipette tips, maintaining equipment and arranging repair when necessary, and/or supervising others in these tasks).
- Orders supplies (reagents, consumables, equipment).
- Handles mice, including injections, mice dissection with removal of tissues for analysis.
- Maintains established human and murine cell lines.
- Prepares tissue extracts for Western blotting, ribonucleic acid (RNA) isolation, and immunofluorescence (IF) / Immunohistochemistry (IHC).
- Conducts reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assays.
- Trains new students and new laboratory personnel.
- Plans individual experiments as well as long-term project goals.
- Analyzes, summarizes, and presents data from experiments looking at the impact of vascular mediators on lung development.
- Responsible for the initiation, monitoring, completion, and reporting of routine to moderately complex research studies.
- Organizes and implements data review and analysis.
- Oversees the proper handling of laboratory specimens including processes, shipping, storage, and documentation and transfer to designated central laboratories.
- Conducts data quality assurance practices.
- Prepares research summaries and assists in progress report development.
- Maintains laboratory work areas and supply inventory.

- Bachelor's degree in science or health-related discipline
