Help Children Fight Cancer While Protecting Their Future

Are you a compassionate and innovative nurse looking to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and families? Riley Children's Health is seeking an experienced Pediatric Oncology Nurse Navigator to join our nationally recognized Pediatric Hematology/Oncology team.

This unique role bridges pediatric cancer care and fertility preservation, ensuring that children, adolescents, and young adults facing cancer treatment have access to timely education, resources, and support regarding future reproductive health. As a key member of the interdisciplinary oncology team, you will help families navigate some of the most difficult decisions of their lives while advocating for both immediate treatment needs and long-term quality of life.

About Us

Riley Children's Health is Indiana's largest and most skilled pediatric healthcare system, with more than 50 pediatric care locations across the state and nationally ranked specialty programs. As part of Indiana University Health and Indiana University School of Medicine, our team is at the forefront of pediatric cancer treatment, stem cell transplantation, survivorship, and clinical research.

Our commitment goes beyond treating disease. We are dedicated to helping children not only survive cancer, but thrive throughout their lives. Through our growing Oncofertility Program, we aim to ensure that every eligible patient receives comprehensive fertility risk counseling and access to fertility preservation options before treatment begins whenever medically feasible.

The Role

As the Pediatric Oncofertility Nurse Navigator (RN) , you will serve as the primary clinical coordinator, educator, and advocate for pediatric and adolescent oncology patients who may be at risk for treatment-related infertility.

Working collaboratively with pediatric oncologists, reproductive endocrinologists, urologists, gynecologists, stem cell transplant providers, social workers, psychologists, advanced practice providers, and fertility preservation specialists, you will facilitate seamless coordination of care and help remove barriers to timely fertility preservation services.

This role requires a highly organized nurse who is passionate about patient advocacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and improving long-term survivorship outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify newly diagnosed oncology and stem cell transplant patients who may be at risk for treatment-related infertility.
  • Provide age-appropriate education and counseling to patients and families regarding fertility risks associated with chemotherapy, radiation, transplant, and other cancer treatments.
  • Facilitate timely referrals to fertility preservation specialists and reproductive healthcare providers.
  • Coordinate fertility preservation procedures within tight treatment timelines while minimizing delays in cancer therapy.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, families, and providers throughout the fertility preservation process.
  • Collaborate with oncology, transplant, reproductive medicine, psychology, social work, child life, and financial counseling teams to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Help patients and families navigate insurance coverage, financial assistance programs, grants, and fertility preservation funding resources.
  • Track patient outcomes, monitor program metrics, and support quality improvement initiatives related to fertility preservation and survivorship care.
  • Promote adherence to national guidelines and institutional best practices regarding fertility preservation discussions and referrals.
  • Participate in survivorship planning by ensuring ongoing reproductive health follow-up and education.
  • Support program development, patient education initiatives, staff education, and community outreach efforts.

Schedule

Part-time; 24 hours per week

  • Three 8-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday
  • Opportunity to work remotely up to one day per week based on program needs and departmental approval.
  • Flexibility required to accommodate patient and family needs, including time-sensitive fertility preservation consultations, care coordination, and treatment scheduling
  • Schedule may occasionally be adjusted to support urgent referrals and ensure timely access to fertility preservation services before initiation of cancer treatment
