Job Description
Overview
Hours are 16-32 hrs/month - as needed to cover vacations, illnesses and LOA
Location: Ball Memorial Hospital Maternal Fetal Health
Referral Specialist requires attention to detail with reviewing orders/ referrals for specialty scheduling with multiple resources and coordination of appointments. Requires both registration and insurance verification for a smooth arrival / check in and check out process. General Office duties while maintaining medical records and multiple inbox messaging pools. This is an in-office patient facing role with multiple touch points with patients and families. Applicant should have a strong customer service experience and medical office experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
Patient experience with referral review and scheduling appropriately with correct providers and resources
Professional Phone Skills
Working as a team to cover all front office duties – faxing, managing messaging, registration check in, and insurance reviews
Positive demeanor
Quick learner or previous Cerner experience
Must Have:
Medical Office experience
Prefer experiences with scheduling
Cerner skills a plus
Requirements:
- Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
- Requires 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum one-year medical office experience or combination of extensive customer service work experience and education in insurance verification, patient registration, and medical terminology.
- Requires working knowledge of payer billing requirements, regulations, and the third party appeal and denial process.
