Indiana University (IU) Public Safety pursues the university's commitment to providing the greatest degree of safety for all members of the IU community, consistent with the university's mission and environment, applicable legal and professional standards, and available resources. IU Public Safety directly oversees areas including the IU Police Department, Emergency Management and Continuity, and Fire Safety and Loss Prevention, operating with a team of approximately 300 dedicated staff on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year operational basis across all campuses.

This position requires the ability to occasionally travel to other campuses to provide additional support for investigation efforts.

- Performs building inspections to ensure compliance with all state of Indiana adopted fire, building codes, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
- Resolves code issues during construction phase, and maintenance issues.
- Performs monthly inspections on fire extinguishers, sprinkler control valves, fire alarm panels, kitchen hood systems.
- Conducts fire pump testing, fire system acceptance testing, real estate building inspections and works special events including such as football and basketball games.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Building code inspection/enforcement and/or fire safety.

- Proficient communication skills.
