PSYCHOLOGICAL & BRAIN SCIENCES (BL-PSY-IUBLA)

The Neuroscience of Mind and Behavior Lab (NiMBLe), located within the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University, research incorporates behavioral, cognitive, and neuroimaging (fMRI) research to identify the mechanisms by which social cognition changes over the lifespan in healthy and pathological aging. We are also interested in research related to stigma associated with mental illness and addiction. Our research uses behavioral and social neuroscience approaches to understand social cognition (the manner in which people process, store, and apply information about others) and how it changes over the lifespan. Our current projects examine how healthy and pathological (e.g., Alzheimer's disease) aging affects social cognition. We are also interested in questions related to social stigma (e.g., addiction, race, mental illness), and how being stigmatized affects its targets (e.g., willingness to seek treatment for addiction).
