- Installs pathways and spaces for installation of low voltage wiring. Installs, terminates, and tests wires and cables, both copper and fiber-optic. Installs, tests, and troubleshoots cabling systems. Installs communications and sound distribution systems. Installs prefabricated systems, such as controllers, dimming systems, life/safety systems, and energy management systems.
- Performs testing, analysis, and repair of video, voice, and data systems.
- Utilizes tools and equipment in a safe manner as well as following all applicable safety rules and procedures.
- Reviews and makes applicable recommendations to drawings, blueprints, and construction specifications.
- Participates in the training of apprentices and/or other workers as needed.
- Orders replacement parts and components as needed.
- Provides documentation as required for field work and assignments.
- Assists in providing work estimates on assigned projects.
- Stays available for emergency callouts and overtime as required.
- Drives vehicle if needed.
Required
EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) and 5 years of verifiable journey-level experience; OR
- Associate's degree and 2 years of verifiable journey-level experience.

- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
