SSS Indiana University (IU) CREATE addresses critical issues in microelectronics (ME) technologies, bridging the gap between commercial ME innovation and technologies and meeting stringent space and defense application requirements. We are dedicated to leading secure, trusted, and sustainable research in microelectronics with a focus on ME design, ME radiation effects, reliability, and workforce development. We aim to conduct cutting-edge research on ME reliability in extreme environments, develop reliable solutions to accelerate commercial technology adoption for space and defense, and support technology transfer from lab-to-fab. IU CREATE aims to promote innovate education in ME and space sciences, fostering a collaborative hub for academic, government, and industry partnerships. Additionally, IU CREATE is committed to expanding workforce participation in space sciences through research, educational and workforce development initiatives.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Works with Center PIs and program managers to develop budgets for proposal documents.
  • Conducts post-award budget analysis for large, complex programs, ensuring all accounts within scope are fiscally compliant.
  • Oversees transactional activity as assigned, including items such as payroll, procurement, p-card, and travel.
  • Develops the IU CREATE's annual budget requests and spend projections.
  • Supports proposal routing documentation.
  • Conducts other administrative roles that keep the Center running smoothly, such as managing schedules, handling correspondence, organizing files, and providing support to staff.
  • Additional responsibilities may include performing clerical tasks, managing office supplies, coordinating meetings and travel, and serving as a point of contact for visitors.

General Responsibilities

  • Using knowledge and application of accepted procedures and standards, performs financial and administrative tasks related to managing the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative operations of an organizational unit or an academic, research, and teaching department within a school or college.
  • Makes recommendations on policies and guidelines for division/department activities.
  • Monitors expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
  • Manages general appropriation, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
  • Develops, plans, and makes recommendations on special projects, which may include space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, and long-range plans.
  • Prepares operating and project budget drafts independently and/or in coordination with other finance staff. Regularly explains financial concepts to non-financial employees.
  • Monitors division/departmental budgets and resolves or recommends resolutions for any significant deviations from approved budgets.

  • Ability to clearly present material and make it accessible to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to interpret financial documents from an accounting, policy, and practice perspective.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$60,000 annually
