What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician position at Indiana Repertory Theatre?
DESCRIPTION
Indiana Repertory Theatre is hiring an Electrician for our lighting department. This is a hands-on, craft-focused role on a small, collaborative team, hanging, focusing, programming, and running lighting for six productions a year across two stages in the historic Indiana Theatre in downtown Indianapolis. The season runs August through April, with repertoire ranging from world premieres to classics.
You'll hang, focus, and program lighting equipment for all IRT productions, run and maintain shows, prep upcoming productions, and repair and maintain equipment. You'll work from light plots, paperwork, and channel hookups using ETC EOS family consoles (Ion, Gio, Nomad) and Lightwright, and support theatrical rigging including work on a counterweight fly system. Coverage for in-house events, rentals, and emergency show coverage is also part of the role.
The right candidate has 2–4 years of experience as a theatrical electrician, proficiency with ETC EOS consoles (or a clear desire and ability to learn), and experience networking, addressing, and programming LED fixtures. Familiarity with Net 3, basic carpentry, soldering, follow spot operation, and trusses is a plus. A collaborative, positive approach is essential, as is the ability to work evenings and weekends as production schedules require.
IRT is Indiana's flagship LORT theatre, founded in 1972 and financially stable with a significant endowment. We are actively working to diversify our staff and programming, and strongly encourage applications from people historically underrepresented in the theatre field. IRT is an equal opportunity employer committed to a hiring process free from discrimination on any basis protected by law.
