General Statement of Duties:
The MRI Technologist performs scans for diagnostic purposes as directed by Physician protocols at all locations, covering varying shifts, including call shifts, as needed. The position performs procedures according to Physician orders in the patient’s chart or per prescription on outpatients. The MR CT Technologist ensures professional standards are met, provides excellent patient care, and maintains current relevant licensing and certifications.
Essential Duties:
- Performs routine and advanced MR procedures. Positions patients, adjusts equipment and selects proper scanning protocols on an individual patient basis following established procedures with minimal amount of supervision or need for repeated scans.
- Screens patients and provides information relevant to the procedure. Evaluates patient condition in order to adequately perform MR exams.
- Informs and explains procedure to be performed and what is expected in terms of his/her cooperation.
- Inserts angiocath. Performs blood draws and injects contrast as warranted by the exam.
- Observes vital signs of the patient during the scan and assists if emergent care is needed.
- Assists with daily issues that are relevant to work flow, equipment and patient care including; assisting with daily quality assurance, stocking of medical and MR supplies, and cleanliness of MRI coils and scanning room
- Ensures the safety of the patient and all staff personnel who enter the MRI room.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in related field required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 1-2 years experience required
- American Registry of Radiological Technologists certification required, Indiana State Radiologic Technology license required, Magnetic Reasoning
