We are currently seeking a logistics coordinator to complete our Vital Link donation center team.
About the Role
The role of the Vital Link Logistics Coordinator is to support the logistics needs of organ/tissue teams and hospital and coroner partners. In this role, you will be responsible for completing the initial organ referral evaluation, coordinating travel and transportation, completing case coordination, assisting with coordination of teams supporting the in-house organ recovery process, and providing oversight with donor check-in, check-out and courier services. You will Align daily activities with strategic and operational goals furthering the organization’s mission. Additional responsibilities include:
- Understands the screening of potential organ and tissue donors in compliance with FDA, CMS, AATB, UNOS, and AOPO standards and Indiana Donor Network operating procedures.
- Ensures data is accurately collected and recorded on both electronic and chart forms for uniformity and quality.
- Executes all elements of case coordination for tissue cases and organ cases to provide seamless transitions and effective case completion.
- Provides accurate information to both internal staff and external customers in a timely and efficient manner as a representative of the donation center. Assists with arrival of external partners to the recovery facility
Shift Information
This is a day shift position, covering the hours of 7 am to 7 pm. The schedule rotates and includes 3 shifts one week (Sn, W, Th) and 4 shifts the next (M, T, F, Sa). The role is onsite at our clinical facility located near 38th and Guion Road in Indianapolis. .
Who We’re Looking For
This position requires a minimum of the completion of a one-year allied health care technical or professional program with current certification, and/or a minimum of one year of previous work experience in related coordination/logistics work, a health care related field/OPO, or funeral directing/social work field. Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:
- Provide exemplary customer service to all callers.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to understanding donation process.
- Knowledge of and skill in using personal computers and related software.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret/assess lab criteria and radiology results.
- Skill in effective verbal communication to establish positive relationships with hospital partners, Indiana Donor Network staff, coroners, funeral homes, and families.
- Skill in thinking critically to generate options and overcome objections in a professional manner.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Skill in listening actively and empathically.
- Skill in identifying what situations require escalation to higher levels; ability to use
resources effectively. - Efficient and comfortable in simultaneous work of typing while talking to customers and using various electronic applications with good accuracy.
- Ability to approach families to maintain authorization goals for tissue donation.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
