Indiana Municipal Power Agency is a joint action agency created by Indiana’s municipal utilities to provide their complete wholesale power supply and electric transmission delivery. IMPA’s headquarters is in Carmel, Indiana. At IMPA, we support 61 communities in Indiana and Ohio through providing low-cost, reliable, and environmentally responsible electricity, as well as a variety of other services to help in the overall success of each town or city.


Our solar team is seeking a safety-oriented individual to assist with maintaining and operating our solar parks to achieve the highest levels of reliability and performance. This is a full-time position.


What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • An Associate degree in engineering, electronics, or a related field of study. Equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • Competency in the use of electrical test equipment and hand tools.
  • Previous experience or an interest in learning about industrial control systems, electrical systems, computer network protocols and hardware.
  • An understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to travel in a company vehicle to our solar facilities, primarily within the state of Indiana and periodically overnight.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Monitor the output and fault status of our solar equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal output.
  • Perform predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Support for commissioning and start-up of new solar parks.
  • Ensuring compliance with our safety standards and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems at our solar parks.
  • Other duties as necessary, including procurement of parts and supplies, inspections of our solar park grounds & security, etc.
